![]() ![]() The downside is, my construction lines really got lost in the shading - I don’t know how to shade, let alone on a small scale - and now some of the windows in particular are wonky. Not a bad thing, considering I had so little time. That was a first for me, and I think it went all right. Rather to sacrifice the top or bottom of the watermill, I decided to shrink the whole think. So I didn’t have the space to fit it all in. My first sketches were done on loose paper, which is slightly larger than my sketchbook in terms of usable surface (because of the rings). I went ahead with the watermill, but ran into difficulties. ![]() I managed to find quite a bit of time to draw, surprisingly. I’ll pay more attention to that area next time I work on it.Īm I way over my head with this, or is it sort of going in the right direction? I know well that I won’t get it perfect at this stage, but I feel that I’m understanding things a bit better, compared to two years ago. I also tried to correct the shed, which wasn’t lined up with the main building before. But I think I’m getting the hang of the wheel - although still not correct, it doesn’t shock me as much as the first attempt. This one obviously hasn’t been cleaned up, so it’s not very readable to anyone who isn’t me. The wheel is all wrong and wonky, so I decided to start again with a focus on that part. My reference is this lovely picture of a watermill: I wanted to draw something outside but it’s raining, so…. I’ll be going on holiday in a couple of days and won’t be able to update for a little while, and I don’t want you to think I’ve given up already! ![]()
